On a larger note, if you have an interest to better understand Israel and the Jewish people, this book is a great place to start. Especially if you’re attached to a business angle for it. I had several encounters with Jewish friends and business people and, like with almost any other culture I met, there were some interactions that left me a bit unclear if I got them right or not. Reading the book I had many aha moments that suddenly brought understanding and coherence were my previous framework of interpretation stumbled.
On a more particular note, in the authors’ words, “This is a book about innovation and entrepreneurship, and how one small country, Israel, came to embody both.”. I think all of us interested in entrepreneurial success have a lot to learn from the stories, principles and practices covered in the book. Most of the times the push towards innovation and change creates tension and opposition inside and outside an organization. We need to learn how to deal with them in our favour if we aim to succeed. This book is a real treat for those willing to take up the challenge.
