If I were to think about one real competitive advantage that nowadays, a company could successfully build irrespective of the industry, that would probably be the organizational health that Lencioni describes in his book. We are currently living in the era of the Artificial Intelligence revolution, which extends beyond Lencioni’s arguments from 2012, but this is only reinforcing his insights.
However, I believe achieving organizational health is neither a quick fix nor a magical solution. From what I can observe in my work, I see that it is a challenging goal to reach, as it requires significant courage. Leaders must be willing to confront themselves, their peers, and the dysfunctions within their organization with an uncommon level of honesty and persistence. In the context of Romanian culture, this can be particularly disruptive. While this approach resonates deeply with my personal preferences, it also comes with inherent risks that must be faced and managed.
