Fusion Teacher's Book

Level A2-B1 and beyond.

Fusion offers an integrated approach to learning vocabulary and grammar. The 60 units focus on the recognition, acquisition and reinforcement of vocabulary. At the same time, they link the language introduced in each topic area to related areas of grammar. As students acquire and practise new language, they also learn or revise the technical skills which they need to produce accurate speech and writing. Students are encouraged to see the inter-relation of vocabulary and grammar rather than viewing them as separate aspects of English to be studied in isolation.
The organisation and selection of topics in Fusion is based on the fourteen Specific Notions of the Council of Europe Framework.
The tasks involved range from giving personal information such as name, age and address to discussing choices or giving opinions.
The theory pages explain the vocabulary using a vast and varied range of resources from many colour illustrations to examples in context, from simple, concise explanations to Question Banks.

Further to the many learning tools made available to the student, there is a CD-ROM which provides the definition, the pronunciation by a native English speaker and the possibility for the user to record their own voice to listen to and improve their pronunciation.
The activities following each theory page focus on all four skills through a variety of exercises (gap fill, multiple choice, open exercises, internet research etc). Students are encouraged to use and research language actively and to participate in pair and group work, using vocabulary in context. Furthermore, the many listening exercises used in the book are an effective stimulus to vocabulary acquisition and recognition.
The book can be used in the classroom as a self-contained vocabulary development and grammar revision course, as a supplement to a main course book or as a source of revision and practice material. The key, CD and CD-ROM also make Fusion ideal for self-study.
