Felt Furnishing

One of the first designers to rediscover felt and update it for the contemporary interior, Finnish-born Anne Kyyrö Quinn broke fresh ground when she used the material to pioneer a new range of uniquely ‘structural’ textiles. Resembling artworks more than conventional fabrics, her creations push our perception of textiles to the limit. Cut, sewn and finished by hand, her beautifully crafted furnishings are designed to harmonise timelessly with any interior.

For Felt Furnishings Anne has developed and collected a stunning array of 25 designs for contemporary home furnishings and accessories; each is an exploration of the enduring versatility and creative potential of felt, and is imbued with the key trademarks of her style: a bold simplicity, striking motifs, a rich texture and three-dimensional surface structure.

The projects can be made using heavy woven wools and simple craft felt –both of which are readily available by the metre from most fabric and hobby craft shops.

All of Anne’s designs have been uniquely created for this book, making Felt Furnishing both an appropriate reflection of her high-end commercial collection, as well as a resource like no other; all the designs are easily achievable at home, and, once learnt, the techniques she teaches can be applied to a variety of soft furnishings.
