England by Rail 2014 Wall Calendar

In the years leading up to World War I, the British railroads commissioned premier artists to create posters advertising the magnificent English landmarks served by their respective lines. The posters continued to be produced in such a style until well after World War II, and to this day they remain among history’s greatest examples of fine art applied to the world of commerce. The dozen beautiful rail posters reproduced in this calendar, advertising Cambridge, Canterbury, Malvern, and other scenic and historic locales, are from the collection of the National Railway Museum, York.
