The photographs of Cristian Crisbasan present nudes of an apparently frivolous woman, an exponent of a daring, yet refined eroticism, somehow lascivious, on the borderline of licentiousness.
He does not stage anything, and he allows the model to act, as she desires. More than that, he provokes. He states her independence from the shutter. Crisbasan does not invite his models to pose; one could even say he invites them to an intimate encounter.
Crisbasan somehow denies the masculinity in his style: the women in his images are not objects of a potentially erotic play. They are not "naked" as such that they are exposed to erotic imagination. After all, the only beneficiary of the voyeurism is Crisbasan himself. For the viewers, his nudes are meant to stir feelings of contemplation, of witnessing.
Cristian Crisbasan is an artist on a quest for beauty. For him, the most honest and beautiful portrait of a woman is he nude - the whole body with all the signs of femininity. As he states, "I think woman are the most fascinating and rich entity on Earth."
